Singapore runs fast: early MRT, open-plan offices, regional calls that start when the US wakes up. A nervous system that never gets a signal of safety stays on alert all day. These five habits are small enough to survive a real schedule — and they build toward a TRE™ practice.

1. Land before you launch (2 minutes)

Before opening your laptop, sit with both feet flat on the floor. Press them down gently, feel the weight of your body in the chair, and take five slow breaths with a longer exhale than inhale. The long exhale is a direct cue to the vagus nerve that the environment is safe. Start the day regulated instead of catching up.

2. Use the MRT as a body scan

You are standing anyway. Soften your knees slightly, let your jaw unclench, and notice where you are bracing — usually the shoulders and the belly. You do not need to fix anything; naming the tension is often enough for it to ease. Ten stations is a decent practice.

3. Shake between meetings (60 seconds)

Find a corner, the stairwell or the restroom. Bounce lightly on your heels, let your arms and hands shake loosely, roll your shoulders, and let out a breath with sound if you can. This is a crude version of what TRE™ does deliberately: discharge a little of the charge before it accumulates. It also makes the next meeting sharper.

4. Protect the transition home

The commute home is when the body wants to downshift and usually gets a phone screen instead. Try one thing: no work email after you leave the building. Look out of the window on the bus. Walk the last stop. Arrive home as a person, not a browser tab.

5. Fifteen minutes on the floor

If you have learned TRE™ with a certified provider, this is where your practice lives: mat down, exercises, tremor, rest. Two or three evenings a week is plenty. If you have not learned it yet, lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet on the floor for ten minutes and simply breathe. The body will show you why the next step is worth taking.

Regulation is not a luxury for weekends. It is the operating system the rest of the day runs on.

For HR and wellbeing teams: these habits scale. A 45-minute introductory TRE™ group session gives a team a shared language for stress and a skill they keep. Ask about a corporate programme.
