Coaching works with what a client thinks, feels and chooses. But the nervous system decides what is even possible in a conversation. A client in fight-or-flight cannot reflect; a client in freeze cannot commit. That is why a growing number of ICF coaches, HR business partners and therapists in Singapore are training in TRE™.

Three reasons coaches certify

1. Self-care against secondary stress

Coaches absorb a lot. Back-to-back sessions with stressed leaders leave a residue in the body that no amount of reflective journaling fully clears. A 15-minute TRE™ practice between clients — or at the end of the day — discharges that residue physically. Many coaches say it is the first self-care habit that actually stuck.

2. A body-based tool for clients

Once certified, you can teach TRE™ to clients as a stand-alone session or as part of a coaching engagement. For clients who "know what to do but can't do it", regulating the body first often unlocks the change that months of insight could not. This is the idea behind the From Shaking to Shaping workshops Isabelle runs with Neurogenic Integration: shaking (regulation) creates the conditions for shaping (choice and action).

3. Recognised continuing education

Module 1 of the Global TRE™ Provider Certification carries 21 ICF Continuing Coach Education Units, which count toward ACC, PCC and MCC credential renewal.

"Regulate, then relate, then reason." The order matters — and TRE™ gives coaches a practical way to start with the first step.

How it fits into a coaching practice

  • Before a session: five minutes of grounding and a short tremor for yourself, so you arrive present.
  • Within an engagement: one or two dedicated TRE™ sessions to give the client a regulation practice they own, then coaching as usual.
  • In organisations: group sessions for leadership teams, embedded in resilience or change programmes.
  • Boundaries: TRE™ is not therapy. Certified providers are trained to recognise when a client needs clinical support and to refer.

What certification involves

Three modules, each a two-day in-person workshop plus four online sessions. Module 1 builds your personal practice and covers the anatomy of stress and the therapeutic tremor. Module 2 teaches you to guide an individual, with polyvagal theory and basic interventions. Module 3 covers fascia, advanced interventions and facilitating groups. The Singapore cohort runs August 2026 to February 2027, with Module 1 also offered in Bucharest in October 2026 for those travelling in Europe.
